Moonlight Sins by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hmm. This book. I liked this book. However, I didn't connect with the characters enough. Moonlight Sins is about nurse Julia Hughes who wants a change of space. She decides to take a job as a home nurse, many states away from where she grew up. Before she leaves for her job she goes with her friend, for one last hurrah. At the bar she meets the sexiest guy she's ever seen, and almost has sex with him.

Fast forward to her showing up at her job only to find out that said stranger she almost had sex with, is the brother of the girl she's been hired to take care of. Lucian de Vincent (the hero) comes from a ultra rich family. He's lived all his life in a "haunted" mansion in the Louisiana Bayou, with a dysfunctional family. Julia shows up like a breath of fresh air. She's not from his world, and there's no hidden motives to her. At first Julia is understandably pissed that Lucien sought her out beforehand, so he could judge if she was competent for the job or not. Julia makes noises to leave, but she eventually buckles down to do the job.

The novel had a gothic vibe to it, with the whole "what goes bump at night" and "dark and dreary" premises. The mystery aspect was kind of a bore. I didn't care for Lucian or his family. It felt like they were trying so hard to hate one another, and some encounters felt repetitive.

The book didn't leave me with lasting thoughts. Maybe it's because I've been reading some really good books lately, and this wasn't up to par. Jennifer L. Armentrout is kind of a one-click author for me, but this was a hit and a miss.
