Spoiler alert: This book contains cheating.

The last book I read that contained cheating was The Affair by Giana Darling, and while cheating is hard to read, if for the sake of the story I can read books that contain it. It largely depends on my mood, and I found myself reading Pretty Venom because I wanted to find out more about the story. The blurb was very engaging, and I had read another book by Ella Fields that contained cheating called Frayed Silk, and had loved it.

That being said it is never easy to read them, but sometimes books which tug at your heartstrings are what you need. And I had a feeling Pretty Venom would do just that.

We have Renee and Callum, two kids who have grown up together. They hate each other, mainly because the both of them are expected to play nice with one other. They resent each other.... or do they? When a stolen kiss at a party changes what they think they might be feeling, the two characters give in to all the emotions that have been on the back burner for years and start to have a secret relationship.

College takes them both to Gray Springs University, and although these two kids love one another, they are still just that. Kids. They don't know how to have a serious relationship while navigating the tricky waters of college. Which of course only causes misunderstanding between our two protagonists.

Pretty Venom was angsty, emotional, and sexy, all of the things I like. It may have been a bit predictable at times, but I've read so much new adult that it has nothing to do with the author and more to do with the fact that I've read too many books from this genre. I am glad I was open to reading this book. It was entertaining, and while it had sensitive subject matter, it was done well. Ella Fields is amazing at writing books which I don't think I'll like to read, but end up enjoying anyways.

If you feel like you want to read a second chance romance, with a bit of enemies to lover thrown into it, please do read this. But a warning beforehand: the hero may make you want to rip your hair out.
