Wouldn't we all like to pretend to be someone else?
For Ellen Grant, pretending to be someone else is a way for her to escape. Every Tuesday she has a new story, a new scenario to play out. It's harmless really her escape, but little does she know she has caught the eye of an extraordinary man.
Julian Fairchild is obsessed with the lady from the coffeeshop. Her outrageous stories spark his interest, and it isn't long before he's hanging on to her every word, eavesdropping on her conversations, trying to understand this enigma better.
But Ellen really isn't that woman. She is awkward, and suffers from debilitating anxiety. She doesn't know how to act in social situations, which is why her escapes are just that, escapes. She plays a part and then goes back home to her real life.
But what do you do when a beautiful man wants to help you learn to live, fully learn to live? Well, you let him ofcourse.
It was wonderful how both these characters needed each other, how they helped one another. Julian was wonderful and kind, and Ellen was the perfect person to help him get out of his rut. Whenever I read L.H. Cosway’s books I love how realistic she makes her characters. Her characters are never perfect and cookie cut. They suffer from real world problems, and often things you can relate to. Ellen was very relatable, and Julian was the perfect mix of seductive, charming, and flawed to keep me invested in the story.
4.5 stars.
