BLURB He was the hot popular guy. I was the nerdy girl with a fantasy crush. All of my childhood, I was invisible to Adam Carlisle. That was fine, because I was too shy, and too smart, to think I had a chance with the most popular guy in school. Until someone crowned him prom king... And me queen. But it was only a cruel joke that ruined my self-esteem and broke my heart. Ten years later and my friend begs me to attend our school reunion with her. I'm older, wiser, but still a nerd. This event is setting off my anxiety. I want it to be over. Then... I see him. My prom king. Adam is hotter than ever. But what really gets my attention? He's staring right at me. I'm not invisible anymore. What happens when my fantasy crush becomes reality?

My review

I haven't read Penny Wylder before, and the blurb for this intrigued me. I mean who doesn't love nerdy girl, jock boy tropes? Well this girl loved them.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but I sure wasn't expecting sweet. That's what this book was. Sweet. And predictable.

Olivia Mitchell was the invisible girl in high school. She had a gigantic crush on Adam, who also happened to be a jock, and was therefore way out of her league (or so she thinks). Ofcourse a tramautic event occurs and years later she is forced to attend her high school reunion because of her best friend. She catches the eye of a handsome man. Adam. He's a succesful doctor now, and can't seem to take his eyes off of Olivia.

The whole story in itself was predictable. With the timed misundertandings and general idea of the story. That wasn't my problem. I love cliched tropes. But i would have preferred a more fleshed out story. I felt like the backstory should have been explored a bit more. A litte bit more angst would have gone a long way. It felt like the author was just stating facts instead lf writing a story.

And the whole supposed "problem"? Don't even get me started on that. It should have been, in my opinion, inconsequential. But Adam was too much of a chickenshit.

All in all, I felt like the story had alot of potential, which it failed to reach.

3.5 stars.
