Every once in a while you read a book that kind of mindfucks you. You can enjoy some books but forget about them quite easily, but some stay with you for a long time. This was one of those books.

Title: Confess: Sin City Salvation #1 Author: A. Zavarelli Release: September 25, 2018 Genre: Dark Romance Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/39318298

I waited on pins and needles for this one. And when it landed on my kindle I didn't waste a moment to start reading. Right off the bat I knew that this wasn't going to be an east ride. Our characters were going to go through some shit before they got their happily ever after. And I was totally down for that. Without giving too much away, here are my thoughts on Confess by A. Zavarelli. For the most part, I thought I knew what would happen in this book. Boy was I wrong.

We have Gypsy Blue our female protagonist, who's a bit of a conundrum. She is a good person forced to do bad things. I found Gypsy to be quite conflicted, a girl caught between two kinds of lives. She wants normal, craves it, but has she been able to attain it? No. She spends her life trickig men, taking advantage, and doing on to them what they do to others. Its kind of vengeful, and theirs always a purpose to Gypsy's game.

Some of her activities catch the eye of a man. A man who is more conflicted than Gypsy. A man you don't really know, not until its too late. Lucian West. A criminal defense lawyer. A bad man. A religious man. A flawed man. He blackmails Gypsy, giving her a taste of her own medicine, into a marriage of convenience. Gypsy doesn't like to be told what to do, but she doesn't have a choice. Lucian has the upperhand, and for once Gypsy is not in control.

Why do all this? Well, you'll have to find out for yourself.

You think you know how this story goes. Thats blurb may seem straightforward and easy. But this story is layered. It is complicated, and not everything here is sunshine and daisies. Be prepared for the unexpected. Be prepared to bite off more than you can chew. I wasn't.

And besides the kickass story, Ashleigh's writing flows so effortlessly. This may be her best book yet, in my opinion. I have enjoyed all of her books, but Confess was some next level shit.

5 stars.

Blurb: Lucian A life free from sin. For seventeen years, I have lived and breathed those words. But there is no balm to the war inside my soul. Until her. The mysterious beauty too lethal to taste. She’s a thief, a con, the essence of everything I loathe. Still, she lures me in with her lying eyes. In the dark of night, she came to confess her sins, and in the light of morning, I plotted to steal her away. She will be my ruination. My damnation. My biggest regret. So help me, God. ** Gypsy A word of advice? Don’t show me your vulnerabilities because I will find a way to exploit them. I learned the hard way to take what I want from life with no regrets. Until him. He’s one of the most hated men in America. A soulless criminal attorney. A recluse. And as of five minutes ago, my new husband. He wants to keep my secrets and collect my tears, but he should know that a wild animal can’t be domesticated. I don’t know how to love men. I only know how to leave them. With everything I want.
