A desolate place where a few lone survivors dwell. My men have lost hope. Our future is bleak. Longevity is a luxury we can’t afford. The most we can hope for is survival. We’ve all but given up when an opportunity presents itself. Five females—a chance at a future. Procuring these women went against everything I’d been taught, but desperate times call for desperate measures. They’re ours now. Asleep and made ready for breeding. We won’t die out—lost and forgotten. It’s our destiny to grow and once again inhabit our lonely planet. I am Breccan Aloisius, the forgotten commander. My people will have the future they deserve. I’ll make sure of it. My mind is made up…until she wakes and nothing goes as planned.
Review:

I'm not really into alien romances, but when K. Webster told us she was writing an alien romance, I was excited as fuck. I love K. Webster's writing, and will read anything she writes. I've never read Nicole Blanchard before, but after this book will definitely check her out. The two authors writing styles meshed perfectly in this book. It felt like one person was writing the book.
The Forgotten Commander opens to a dystopian world, where we meet Breccan Aloisius. He is the commander and is in charge of ten alien men, who are currently on a expedition. After a mysterious disease razed their planet, they are looking for survivors and are desperate for propagation of their species. Their journey finds them ten human females, who are asleep or in stasis.
The occasion is joyous, and the women are immediately impregnated with their sperm. Amongst these women is one named Aria. Aria was a actress in her past life, and turned to drugs for comfort and survival. She is the first to wake up, and the first thing she sees is a hulking, thing standing by the foot of her bed. Justifiably terrified she tries to run away, only to be captured by the man in charge. Aria promptly has a miscarriage, and is ordered by Breccan to be put back to sleep. Their first priority is propagation, and if she can't do that while awake, she is no good to them.
Aria however is not one to take it lying down. Breccan gives her a choice: become his mate, or be put back into stasis. It's not really much of a choice, and Aria chooses to stay awake and mate with this man who terrifies her.
Both of them are wary. Distrustful, but also looking for the one person who will make them whole.
Breccan was adorable. He so wanted to understand the tiny, female who quickly wrapped him around her finger. For Aria who was used to a life of artifice, Breccan was a breath of fresh air. He didn't know deception. The way that feelings developed between the two was a nice journey. They were both good for one another, despite their differences. And the emotion! I keep on getting surprised at the depth of emotions that can get packed in a small book. I didn't expect to feel so much, but I did.
I hope the next books live up to the standard set by this one.
And there's four more women and nine more aliens, so I hope the authors have a few menages thrown in there.
