Instantly he is transported to a moment he shared with the girl he’s never been able to forget. A kiss at a bonfire he went to his freshmen year. He never saw her again, but true to the superstition that surrounds the bonfire, she has been on his mind for a long time.
Serena Jansen is a graduate student, currently in school for journalism. She is focused on school and taking care of her sister. Previous experience has taught her that the heartbreak that comes with love is not worth it. Enter Dillon McQueen. The football player with the killer abs, who makes her feel again.
Once again with Ilsa this is not just a sports romance. The characters are vulnerable and have so much depth to them and are not cookie-cutter versions of each other. I really enjoyed I Hate You which was Charisma and Blaze’s story, but I loved I Promise You for completely different reasons. These are not just stories about football payers finding love with their girls, but about people who have hopes and dreams, who overcome their fears to become better versions of themselves. This book was so sweet and emotional, and I really enjoyed it.
