Not My Romeo, the all-new sexy and unforgettable contemporary sports romance from Wall Street Journal bestselling author Ilsa Madden-Mills is available now!

We start off with a lie on Valentine’s Day.

My blind date isn’t the studious guy I expected: he’s a drop-dead gorgeous player with sinful amber eyes. Somehow we end up at his penthouse. I blame the gin and tonic.

The next day I learn he’s Jack Hawke—bad-boy professional quarterback with a murky past. The NDA he has me sign should be a warning that he isn’t a regular person. Please. I sign it Juliet Capulet, so goodbye, famous football player with abs of steel, and good luck tracking down this small-town librarian.

But Jack keeps showing up in places I least expect him. Just when I’m sure he’s gone, he waltzes into my community theater and wins the part of Romeo to my Juliet. How’s a plain, mostly innocent girl like me supposed to resist a man like him?

Is Jack my real Romeo…or will this gorgeous football player only break my heart?

Review

I love reading sports romances, but no one does them quite like Ilsa Madden-Mills. Her books always leave me in a happy place, and Not My Romeo did exactly that.

In the book we are introduced to Elena and Jack- Elena is a librarian. She is sweet, sassy, but can be assertive when she needs to be. Doormat she is not. Jack is a football player. He’s not just a jock, however- he loves English literature (British lit more specifically) and likes listening to pop songs to calm himself. When they first meet neither of them knows exactly who the other is. Jack figures it out pretty soon but he keeps on the charade because no one has ever treated him the way Elena does. Especially women. Usually, he has no shortage of glamorous, beautiful women, but something about the bookish, pencil skirt wearing librarian keeps him sparring with her even when he knows he should tell her the truth about his identity.

Elena has had bad luck with men for the past few years. After her last serious relationship ended horribly she has lost all faith in relationships. She agrees to a blind date after her best friend pesters her into one, which is how she finds herself standing in front of Jack’s table. She thinks his name is Greg and that he is a weatherman, and even though he is kind of standoffish in the beginning, a girl has gotta eat. Plus he is HOT.

Which is why they spend a night having scorching hot sex. Greg AKA Jack has a dirty, dirty mouth, and he makes Elena feel feminine and sexy again. Elena fascinates Jack- she designs her own sexy lingerie but is also sweet and funny. Come the morning overcome with guilt Jack writes her a note telling her who he is and tells her to call him. And he steals her new panties.

Elena is justifiably furious when she wakes up and realizes she’s been duped. She has no intention of calling him. Besides, she's a librarian in a tiny town, and he’s a hotshot jock. Never the twain shall meet. Except, circumstances beyond both their control have them doing exactly that. Pretty soon they are playing star-crossed lovers in a small-town production of Romeo and Juliet.

I loved how fleshed out Ilsa’s characters are. They are not cardboard cutouts of people but have their own hopes, dreams, and fears. The secondary characters were a hoot! I loved Topher, Elena’s mother and aunt and their hair salon, and her little teacup pig Romeo.

If you love rom-coms you will love Not My Romeo! It was a welcome break from my rabbit hole of dark romances, and it left me with a gigantic smile on my face. I cannot recommend it enough!!!

5 stars!!!
